What is Social Abuse? 

Social Abuse is the behaviour in which your partner aims to cut you off from your friends, family and community. 

What are the types of Social Abuse? 

Social Abuse may be shown through a partner when they are stopping you from seeing anyone you enjoy talking to, not allowing you to participate in other activities involving communication, need to know everyone you have planned in advance to going anywhere. 

Signs that you are being Socially Abused 

  • Encourages abusive friends 
  • Spreads rumours about you 
  • Treats you with disrespect in front of others (to show power) 
  • Refuses to let you work outside of the home 

Always Remember! 

  • Try your best to get yourself out of this situation 
  • Don't take the blame or tell them 'It's ok' 
  • This is NOT your fault
