"You are strong enough to make your own decisions"

What is Physical Abuse?

Physical Abuse is any form of negative contact towards a partner in a relationship.

What are the types of Physical Abuse?

This may be shown through pushing, hitting, shoving, slapping, etc.

Signs that you are being Physically Abused

Your partner may be:

  • Blaming you
  • Telling you they are sorry (this may be because they are aware of their negative physical actions)
  • Blaming anyone but themselves- this may be because of alcohol/ drugs, stress, work, etc.

Always Remember!

  • Violent behavior is NOT your fault. Never tell an abuser that their actions are ok (they are not acceptable).
  • Getting help will not make it worse, it will only increase your wellbeing

What to do next?

  • You must tell someone (you are not alone)
  • Call a helpline if you feel you are in any kind of danger (in the moment of, or when you have time alone)
  • Try your best to remove yourself from the negative environment
  • Stay as far away from the abuser as you can avoid all contact if necessary
