What is Physical Abuse?
Physical Abuse is any form of negative contact towards a partner in a relationship.
What are the types of Physical Abuse?
This may be shown through pushing, hitting, shoving, slapping, etc.
Signs that you are being Physically Abused
Your partner may be:
- Blaming you
- Telling you they are sorry (this may be because they are aware of their negative physical actions)
- Blaming anyone but themselves- this may be because of alcohol/ drugs, stress, work, etc.
Always Remember!
- Violent behavior is NOT your fault. Never tell an abuser that their actions are ok (they are not acceptable).
- Getting help will not make it worse, it will only increase your wellbeing
What to do next?
- You must tell someone (you are not alone)
- Call a helpline if you feel you are in any kind of danger (in the moment of, or when you have time alone)
- Try your best to remove yourself from the negative environment
- Stay as far away from the abuser as you can avoid all contact if necessary
