What is it?
Emotional Abuse happens when an individual's perception of themselves has been mistreated and their feelings of self-worth are fading, due to a partners use of language and actions.
What are the types of Emotional Abuse?
Emotional Abuse can be shown through verbal violence; which includes yelling or swearing, it can be shown through rejection, put-downs, causing fear and isolation.
Signs that you are being Emotionally Abused
You partner may:
- Make unreasonable demands for you (dress a certain way, wear your hair a certain way, communicate a certain way, etc.)
- Provide with the expectation that he is 'the most important person in the world', 'number one priority.'
- Isolate you from your friends and family
- Disregard your feelings and opinions as if they are irrelevant and silly
